College of Southern Nevada Henderson Caesar J. Caviglia Academic Computing Building
CSN Computer Science Laboratory & Classroom Building “C” is located on the 80-acre community college master planned site. Very contemporary, Building “C” is the focal point at the campus entrance. It was strategically located as the link between the Clark County School District’s adjoining Foothills High School and the CSN campus. Designed in response to the shared facility concept, the building provides a covered colonnade along the west side for protection from the elements as students flow in both directions. The main lobby opens as a four-story entry with a skylite in the subliminal shape of CSN’s logo. The skylite provides indirect, outdoor lighting for the buildings large open spaces. At night, the skylite glows in the dark presenting an image that can be seen from miles away. The total gross building area is 90,000 square feet carefully integrating first and second floors by means of open balconies and bridges proving exciting circulation patterns. DCC was awarded the coveted Education Design Showcase Award for the design of this building. The architecture award sponsors are School Planning & Management and College Planning & Management magazines.
